The symbol of the story is the colonization of the Australian by the Europeans. I think that the most important message of "The Rabbit" is that colonization is bad and that it could destroy peoples life even though you are not meant to ruin their lives. I believe that there are good and bad things about colonization, like the chance of seeing new animals and new foods. Then again there are the bad things like the stuff that makes you sick like pollution, junk food etc etc.
