renaissance Art

The Oil on wood painting "Allegory of sight" made in 1618 by Bruegel the elder, reflects what is happening in the renaissance because it is showing things that happened in the renaissance. Like in the renaissance they started to pay more attention to art and knowledge and in the painting you can see a globe and a lot of drawings. So the Globe might show that they liked learning about the world and the mysteries that it contains. I think this picture shows how in the renaissance they started to look at things more carefully, because most of the paintings in the painting a re of famous people and it also has a telescope and the telescope is used to look through it and in the renaissance they started to look at things better the planets and the human body they started to try things not once but many times. I think that the painting in the art show this because there are loads of paintings so they might have tried the same techniques on the paintings.

Driving Forces of the Renaissance

Bankers of York

Bankers of York, from the Ordinances of their Guild, 1595-96.

A driving force that was more crucial to creating the Renaissance's explosion of idea were, the Guilds, because If it was not for the guilds trade could not have happened because there wouldn't have been anyone to make the materials and things for trading.

this is what i believe and ill stand by it

In my life, I’ve been told stories that are amazing, completely astonishing and every story had different subjects. Those stories have made me believe that no matter what happens in life, love will always conquer everything. I believe this because; in the stories my mom has told me, there was always an evil guy, and they were usually evil because they had no one to love, or they had been rejected. Then when that has been changed and replaced with love they would put away their evilness and be kind.

Another reason I believe in this, is because when I read the story of Anne Frank, my teacher had told me that for punishment. If the Jews didn’t do as they were told, they would make the kids shoot their own father. Of course, it was hard for them I mean to shoot the person who cared for them when they were born, who was like a hero to you. My teacher even told me that, sometimes they were not able to do it. Also in WWII, when the Jewish people ran away to keep save some people tried hiding them, its like love between humans not because it is wrong but because we are all the same. I believe and always believe in this.

Game 1066 reflection

The game is basically about the fights between William and Harold and Harrald, it was also about defeating the other team and winning so that you could keep england. What i enjoyed most about this game was the fact that you needed a strategy, and that i was the one to control everything. I also enjoyed it because i learned a lot about it, i learned that you must never put the king at the front of a war because he most probably will die.

In hastings there were two kings and both of them were fighting for the throne of england, the kings were William and Harold, so the battle of hasting was a battle that lasted 6 hours. At the end William won. I think this game is really valuable because its like hwat if harold had won and all of that stuff.

Duke William of Normandy

When Duke William of Normandy had taken over the english he had different ways of ruling over england that the english had never heard of. For example William had made a book called the Doomsday Book, in that book he wrote down what everyone owned and combined everything in a book. He used this book to put taxes and since everyone told him what they had owned there were no hiding places because he knew everything. Also William killed lots of people and burned down houses and villages! he did this to show how powerful he was and so that everyone would respect him. William did not only scare the english but tormented them, for the english what William did was terrible but if you think of england now it was actually pretty good.

Paragraph

"Matilda Bone", a historical-fiction novel written by Karen Cushman, which consists of a young orphan girl named Matilda. Matilda is someone who passed all of her life in a religious manor and was then transferred to a filthy town,("...could you please come back for me soon?"p41 "i must get word to Father Leufredus. Could you keep this letter for me and send it next time you meet someone going to London?"P 42) that has lack of hygiene, no rights for peasants, but that does have knowledge about health. "Matilda Bone" contains the feelings of loneliness, love and happiness. This book shows these three moods by describing Matilda as a young, selfish, frozen-hearted, lonely girl("Never had she fell so alone"P40). From that moment Matilda began to accept her moving in to Blood and Bone Alley and began opening her heart("No. I think the miracle was the skill of Margery and Peg and your kind heart"P121). Realizing that Blood and Bone Alley was not so bad after all. Matilda grew happier and more caring, making all of that loneliness and selfishness disappear away from sight ("Late for what she could not say, but nevertheless she hurried..."P159)

McCurry

Steve McCurry was a really famous photographer, born in Philadelphia in 1950, graduated cum laude from the College of Arts. McCurry themes are to take pictures of human struggle and joy and he is exceptionally good at capturing these themes. I found that he uses a color that relates to the picture, when I say that I mean that you can capture, what he wants you to feel in the picture like if the theme of the picture is sadness he will play with the colors and make it look like the appropriate theme. Steve McCurry’s favorite subjects were usually taking pictures of war, dead people and little boys playing around and having fun. “People will forget your camera and the soul will drift up into view." I find this quote of McCurry’s really powerful and amazing because it’s stating that if you’re patient enough, people will eventually forget that you’re standing there with you camera and they will go back to their daily routine and then when you take the picture it will be natural like a normal day, in the picture.

The reason I chose this picture is, because it shows how difficult life is for that child, it makes me feel sad, but, it also makes me feel grateful for what I have. Since the focus is mainly on the boy you can tell that the destruction and wars of the city have affected this boy. Its hurt this boy physically, emotionally and mentally, because he can no longer walk or do anything by himself. It also shows me that the place he is living in shouldn’t be that way, children are supposed to live in a safe community, environment, but with the wars and damage in this city, I don’t think this boy is safe in there or has adequate facility to be taken well care of.
